A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on court had led commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour victory, took control to force a third set.

The opponent defended four early break points in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
